Description from the packaging.
Cytron: Any one of many different types of Cybernetic Electronic Devices, mindless machines formed into armies. See Cytron Masters.
Cytron Masters: 1. Military commanders of cytron armies. 2. A fantastic Rapidfire game from SSI that combines the fast-paced action and pure excitement of arcade games with the challenge and sophistication of strategy simulations.
In the far-flung future, small armies of Cytrons have replaced large-scale warfare by sentient beings as the instrument for settling planetary disputes. Each army consists of laser-blasting shooter units, kamikaze-like mine cytrons and devastating guided missiles. For defense, there are mobile bunker cytrons and anti-missiles.
To command these deadly but mindless machines is a military genius, who after long and rigorous training, has earned the revered title of... Cytron Master.
When you insert the Cytron Master disk, you will begin your difficult but enjoyable apprenticeship to join the ranks of these rare men.
At your disposal are energy centers with which to build the different types of cytrons. You will learn how to most effectively deploy your units to destroy your opponent's forces, to capture his energy centers and augment your power. Finally, with diligent training, you will experience what every Cytron Master lives for- the destruction of the enemy's command center and with it, total victory.
This game is packed with fast-paced action, animation, and sound effects. In fact, it is so fast that three speed levels had to be incorporated to allow you a chance to learn the game.
Of particular interest is the special missile- anti-missile scenario where you practice to control two of your most important weapons. By itself, this scenario makes for an interesting diversion. But when you consider the game in its entirety, it truly stands head and shoulders above its competition in fun and excitement.
This game allows for two-player and solitaire (against-the-computer) play.
