Description from the packaging.

What do an Indian Firewalker and a Marathon Runner have in common?

Why does your hair stand on end when you're frightened? Why should you be happy to have a fever? How is your brain like a ten-watt light bulb?

It's amazing how little we know about our own bodies and how they work. With Science Toolkit Body Lab, you'll take a fantastic journey inside your lungs, heart, brain and nervous system. And you'll learn it all by doing your own sophisticated experiments with the Body Lab's on-screen Heart rate Meter, Lung Volume Meter and Response Timer, plus its easy-to-build Spirometer.

The Toolkit and how it works.

It all starts with the Master Module, your basic research lab. Its interface box connects your computer with two highly sensitive tools- a light probe and a temperature probe.

Body Lab gives you the inside story:

Module 3 increases the capabilities of the Master Module.

1. The assemble-it-yourself Spirometer works with the Master Module light probe to measure lung volume and aerobic fitness easily and accurately.

2. The on-screen lung volume meter works in conjunction with the Spirometer to measure and display lung capacity.

3. The on-screen heart rate meter measures and displays heart rate and cardiovascular fitness under a variety of circumstances. The heart rate plotter prints the information in graph form.

4. The on-screen response timer measures and displays reaction time to light and sound.

5. The illustrated user's manual and experiment guide is packed with easy-to-perform experiments as well as background material explaining why our bodies act and react as they do.

Study the most amazing machine ever made: You!

Compare the lung capacities of a smoker, a non-smoker and an athlete. Find out why eating affects your body temperature. Monitor your heart, lungs and temperature before and after exercise. There's no end to the experiments you can perform- and create yourself- with Module 3. And the only extra equipment you'll need is you.

Science Toolkit Module 3: Body Lab.

Body Lab is the third is a series of add-on modules designed to work with Science Toolkit Master Module. Module 1 focuses on Speed and Motion, while Module 2 deals with earthquakes and the physics of wave and harmonic motion.

Body Lab provides you with sophisticated equipment once available only to physicians and scientists.
