In America in the 1880s, hundreds of thousands of people moved to the big cities of the northeast. You are among them. You have come to pursue the American dream of freedom and prosperity. But you haven't found it. Instead you have found only low-paying, hard-to-come by jobs. Then one day you see a sign that reads...

Come to Kansas
where the land is free
the water is pure
and every farmer is prosperous!

You rush home, gather your belongings and family and head for this new found promised land. Little realizing the work that lies ahead.

Go West! The Homesteader's Challenge casts you in the role of a new settler in Kansas in the 1880s. You must face all the triumphs and hardships of everyday life on the plains.

Learn when to plant your crops. Discover how to budget your money to survive the long Kansas winters. Run a business in the small town. Become the mayor.

Go West! is an exciting simulation that is educational and fun for all ages. This fascinating game offers hours of enjoyment as you learn about such subjects as history, social studies, math, reading and more.

The Plano Project.
In 1994, Steck-Vaughn Publishing and Edunetics Interactive began a partnership with the Plano, Texas School District, one of the most respected districts in the United States. The companies worked side-by-side with Plano teachers, administrators and students to create CD-ROM products that were based on solid educational principles and theories. Two of these exciting products are Go West! The Homesteader's Challenge and Message in a Fossil. We know you'll enjoy these products that were designed by educators with your child in mind.
